Spanish artist Joan Cornellà and British artist David Shrigley have a collaboration in VOID DECK during 12 - 20 June 2022. The two artists are great at expressing life in the style of satire and humor, reflecting the current situation of society. They often criticize society in the form of comics and illustrations. This show has also exhibited a sculpture of Joan Cornellà.
Two artists use the easiest way to express the hidden sadness in the society and us, to express our dissatisfaction with the society, and reflect on ourselves. In today's society, it requires us to be strong and not allow us to show our vulnerability. We had been shaped as what society expected and learned to hide who we truly are, like wearing a mask every day. And the protagonists in Joan Cornellà's paintings, the character is always the same appearance, just like we wear a fake smile every day, which is very resonant.
